Total Semester Credit Hours Required

For the M.S. in Biology with research emphasis, a minimum of 30 semester credit hours, including 6 semester credit hours for thesis; for the M.S. in Biology with teaching emphasis, 36 semester credit hours, including 3 semester credit hours for professional paper and 6 semester credit hours of education or equivalent coursework as approved by the Advisory Committee.

Major/Emphasis

24-27 semester credit hours of courses chosen with an advisory committee to fit the needs of the student.

Minor

6 semester credit hours, usually chemistry.

Final Examination

Oral defense of the thesis or professional paper; may be retaken once upon approval of the committee.
