General Description

The Bachelor of Arts in history offers a sound basis for proceeding to graduate programs in the field, to law school admission, or to careers in public service. In addition, the degree provides a background for professional preparation in the following fields: library science; teaching at middle school, secondary school, or college level; work with archives, historical associations, museums or national parks; journalism; criminal justice administration; legal assistance; law school; foreign service, non profit, administrative, federal and state civil service.

 History Courses Required – thirty semester credit hours beyond HIST 1013, HIST 1023:

Twenty-one elective advanced semester credit hours in history selected from any history courses listed in this catalog, of which 6-9 semester credit hours must be non-U.S. If 2013 and 2023 are both completed, six additional non-U.S. semester credit hours must be completed. If only one of these courses – 2013 or 2023 – is completed, nine additional non-U.S. semester credit hours must be completed.
