The B.A. in Theatre with an emphasis in Technical Theatre/Design prepares graduates to function creatively and skillfully in a variety of theatre professions with a focus upon the art and craft of technical production and design for theatrical performance and other related fields. The emphasis also prepares students for further graduate work in their chosen field should they choose.

Marketable Skills

Defined by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board's 60x30 Strategic Plan as, "Those skills valued by employers that can be applied in a variety of work settings, including interpersonal, cognitive, and applied skills areas. These skills can be either primary or complementary to a major and are acquired by students through education, including curricular, co-curricular, and extracurricular activities."

  2. Strong, project-oriented time-management skills applied with respect and self-discipline to meet strict deadlines, and achieve goals.

Theatre Major Rehearsal and Production Requirement

Theatre majors must enroll in THEA 1312 or THEA 2312 or THEA 3312 or THEA 4412 each semester of full-time enrollment.  The course number should correspond to the student's class level.  For example, a First Time Student should enroll in THEA 1312, a Sophomore Student should enroll in THEA 2312, and so on.  Transfer students should enroll in THEA 3312 or THEA 4412 after consulting with a Theatre Program advisor.
