The Master of Library Science (MLS) degree with School Librarian Certification (SLC) focus is available entirely online and is designed to prepare professionals to work in libraries in elementary schools, middle schools, and/or high schools (K-12).
The Master of Library Science degree program at Texas Woman's University is accredited by the American Library Association Committee on Accreditation, with the status of Continued accreditation. The next comprehensive review visit is scheduled for 2025.
All students must meet the University requirements as outlined in the Admission to the TWU Graduate School section of the catalog.

Defined by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board's 60x30 Strategic Plan as, "Those skills valued by employers that can be applied in a variety of work settings, including interpersonal, cognitive, and applied skills areas. These skills can be either primary or complementary to a major and are acquired by students through education, including curricular, co-curricular, and extracurricular activities."

A cumulative B average must be maintained. Any course with a grade of C cannot be applied toward the student’s degree. Students are allowed to repeat a course once to improve a grade. No graduate library science course may be taken more than twice.
The Final Exam comprises submission of the Final Exam Portfolio, to be reviewed by the Final Exam Committee.
