In the Master of Arts in Music with an emphasis in performance, aspiring artists have the opportunity to study with professional musicians who are active in the field. Coursework prepares students for careers in studio, teaching, and performance.
 

Marketable Skills

Defined by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board's 60x30 Strategic Plan as, "Those skills valued by employers that can be applied in a variety of work settings, including interpersonal, cognitive, and applied skills areas. These skills can be either primary or complementary to a major and are acquired by students through education, including curricular, co-curricular, and extracurricular activities."

  2. Integration and facilitation of research​.

All students must meet the University requirements as outlined in the Admission to the TWU Graduate School section of the catalog.

Degree Requirements

Total Semester Credit Hours Required

36 semester credit hours (SCH).

Special requirement

A grade of A or B for courses to be counted toward the degree.

Final Examination

An oral examination will include a comprehensive review of the major area of emphasis and the culminating project. The result of the exam will be reported as:

  1. pass,
  2. not pass, or
  3. deferral (exam may only be repeated once).
