Mary Eleanor Brackenridge Student Union
The Student Union is named for Mary Eleanor Brackenridge, a strong advocate for the advancement of women. She was appointed to the first Board of Regents, and she was president of the Texas Woman Suffrage Association from 1913 to 1914.
The Student Union at TWU provides facilities and services intended to meet the needs of a diverse University community. The Student Union provides students an opportunity to develop leadership skills that provide a foundation for service within and beyond their academic experience. A notary public service for students is available in Room 209 in the Student Union building. The following offices are located in the Student Union on the Denton campus: the Center for Student Development, Campus Alliance for Resource Education (CARE), and the office of the Vice President for Student Life.
The Student Government Association, the Campus Activities Board, Volunteer Services, Greek Life, and the Student Union Board are also located in the building. Student Union space is also provided on the T. Boone Pickens Institute of Health Sciences Campus and in the Houston Center. Other services in the Student Union on the Denton campus include four dining locations, the TWU Bookstore, computer stations, cyber cafe, TV and game room, meeting and lounge space, locker rentals, and a lactation room.
