What does it mean to be first-generation? First-generation (or first-gen) college students are students whose parents or guardians have not completed a bachelor’s degree. Over 50% of TWU students are first-generation college students.

The Center for First-Generation Students (CFGS) is dedicated to helping first-generation students navigate their university experience and celebrate achievements in ways that increase student success through graduation. We provide a wide range of activities and events that promote community building and offer various services and programs. Our aim is to build collaborative relationships that enhance student learning and engagement opportunities and enrich their co-curricular experiences to promote student success.

Student support services include First-Gen Pioneers, First Gen Champions, G-Force Work-Study Mentorship Program, GO Centers, and the TWU Mobile GO Center.

CFGS is located in the Student Union at Hubbard Hall, Suite 1600. For more information, you may contact us at (940) 898-3679, firstgen@twu.edu, or visit the Center for First-Generation Students website.
