The B.A.A.S. in Professional Studies is available for students who transfer into TWU from a community college with a minimum of 15 semester credit hours (SCH) of WECM (workforce education) and a minimum of 12 SCH of academic courses. Coursework must be completed prior to transfer. To complete the B.A.A.S. degree at TWU, students will complete any additional core curriculum courses required for a four-year degree, *18 SCH in a professional development concentration area, 18 SCH in an interdisciplinary minor or certificate program, and any electives needed in order to complete the 120 SCH needed for graduation; 36 upper-level SCH will be required.
Any student admitted to TWU for completion of the B.A.A.S. in Professional Studies who decides to change majors outside of applied degree areas will be required to submit a new application for admission. In such cases, technical SCH transferred to TWU may be removed from the TWU transcript.
Marketable Skills
Defined by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board's 60x30 Strategic Plan as, "Those skills valued by employers that can be applied in a variety of work settings, including interpersonal, cognitive, and applied skills areas. These skills can be either primary or complementary to a major and are acquired by students through education, including curricular, co-curricular, and extracurricular activities."
